Prime Checking
Prime Checking is an account designed for Southern Bank customers age 50 and older. This account offers many added benefits. There are no monthly service charges as long as eligibility requirements are maintained.
Services provided are as follows:
- Free specially personalized checks (or a $5.00 credit toward any other check style.)
- Special rates on 6 and 12 month CDs ($5,000 minimum per CD)
- Free 3" x 5" safe deposit box (subject to availability)
- Visa® Check Card or ATM available
- No service fees for traditional travelers checks
- No service fees for cashiers checks
- Free notary service, where available
- Personal Online Banking and Bill Pay services are available

In order to avoid service charges, one the following requirements must be maintained.
- Maintain a combined daily balance of $10,000 or more in a Prime Checking Account, one or more CDs, a Regular Savings Account, a Tiered Insured Money Market Savings Account, a Premium Tiered Insured Money Market Savings Account and/or one or more IRAs.
- Maintain a minimum daily ledger balance of $5,000 or more in a Tiered Insured Money Market Savings Account
- Maintain a minimum daily ledger balance of $2,500 or more in a Regular Savings Account
- A Southern Bank mortgage loan made through Affiliated Mortgage Services (AMS) will now be a qualifier for the accounts' benefit package
