What is Online Banking?

Online Banking is a free service designed to help you easily manage your accounts. It uses the technology of the Internet and allows you to view your account information, transfer money between your accounts, pay your credit accounts, and perform other self-service tasks. Combined with the optional Bill Payment service, Online Banking makes it easy to manage all aspects of your financial well being. Click here to learn more about Bill Pay.

How easy is it to use?

You do not have to know a lot about computers to be able to use Online Banking, nor do you have to be at home to take care of your banking needs. For basic banking services, it is as easy as a click of your mouse. Using the Bill Pay service makes paying bills as simple as setting a date and an amount.

What do I need to use it?

All you need to use Online Banking is a Southern Bank ATM card or Visa® Check Card, an Internet connection, and a current version of a web browser. We recommend you use at least version 5.x of Internet Explorer or version 4.5 of Netscape Communicator.

How do I sign up?

Simply set up the payee and schedule the payment for the date you want the money to arrive. Payment processing begins four business days in advance of the due date, and the payment is locked. You cannot change your payment instructions once the processing has begun. The money will be debited from your account on the due date you set up.

Is the password case sensitive?

Yes. If you type your new password in all lower case letters, you will need to always type your password in lower case. Be careful of the CAPS LOCK key under the TAB key. It is a very easy and common mistake to press the CAPS LOCK key and then quickly lock yourself out of Online Banking.

Can joint account holders sign up?

Each account holder must have an ATM card or Visa Check Card. If they do, then each person may sign up for access. Since the Bill Pay service is associated with an individual, a joint account may not be shared as the Bill Pay account.

Is there any cost?

Online Banking is free of charge when you use it to perform basic functions such as accessing your account information, transferring funds, or other self-service tasks. When you signed up for Online Banking you also received access to our free, unlimited Bill Pay service.
