At Southern Bank, we believe banking is personal — built on real conversations, not just transactions. Over time, these conversations grow into trust, and that trust is what helps businesses thrive. We invited a few clients and bankers to share what makes these partnerships so meaningful — and we’re excited to give you a peek.

A dentist office has familiar sounds: the whir of tools polishing teeth, hygienists’s voices calmly talking patients through their cleaning, the hum of an x-ray machine.

One sunny afternoon at Campbell & Farrelly Dentistry, there was something new added to the mix — a warm conversation between Dr. Vanessa Campbell and Dr. Megan Farrelly, co-owners of Campbell & Farrelly Dentistry, and Greg Williams, Senior Vice President and Commercial Banker at Southern Bank.

Together, the trio weathered the impact of COVID-19, moving offices, and, as Farrelly notes, many, many loans that have empowered the practice to improve their patient experience. Over the course of the afternoon, they filmed a conversation about their evolving relationship, growing business needs, and that unique feeling of walking into your local Southern Bank branch.

A Partnership Built on Trust

When Campbell first connected with Williams, she recognized the importance of working with a banker who understood the nuances of running a dentistry practice.

“I was definitely looking for an improved experience,” Campbell said. “That personal care where you know my business. You know what’s going on. You can help guide and direct and provide support like a partner, right?”

That sense of care extended naturally when Farrelly became a co-owner of the practice. “I knew that your dad was a dentist,” she told Williams. “It gave me some perspective in terms of what you grew up with and the needs you recognize in this niche we live in.”

Loaning More Than Banking Support

Over the years, Southern has helped Campbell & Farrelly Dentistry refinance multiple loans, purchase real estate, and finance new construction.

“When we were getting ready to move here, that’s when things went up a hundred times,” Campbell laughed. “It wasn’t just a real estate purchase; it was a whole building process. Greg’s familiarity with our business and with construction made everything so much smoother.”

And while Farrelly wasn’t expecting to take out multiple loans, she recognizes how that financial support has enabled the practice to maintain high-tech equipment: “This is how we basically improve our dentistry and our patient experience. And it’s Southern that allows us to do that.”

For the dentists, the relationship has always gone beyond transactions. “I just liked that I knew who I could call, a person, not a customer service 800 number,” Campbell explained. “Even if you need to talk with colleagues at your bank, you are our point of contact. That alone is huge.”

A True Community Connection

During the video shoot, Williams, Campbell, and Farrelly slipped easily between business updates and personal stories, laughing like old friends. That warmth is exactly what makes Southern’s relationship-driven approach stand out.

Farrelly described how it feels to walk into her local branch: “People know who I am. I don’t need a red carpet rolled out for me — but honestly, it feels like it is, for everybody. Southern Bank might be the only bank in North America that actually picks up the phone and talks to you.”

Even when the cameras paused, they kept chatting about families, weekend plans, and what’s next for the practice. It’s a reminder that Southern’s support extends well beyond the financials.

Built for What’s Next

Looking ahead, Campbell and Farrelly know they can count on Southern not just for their practice, but for their families and future.

“It makes me feel confident that Southern Bank is going to be here for whoever buys our practice one day,” Campbell said. “That continuity means everything.”

As Williams summed it up: “We’re not concerned about the next quarter or even next year. We’re focused on the next five to 10 years and helping you build a strong future.”
