(Kristen) Welcome to Money Matters at 7:57 with Justin Chastain. And, Justin, today, how about we make a list? Does that sound good?

(Justin) Well, unless you’re Santa Claus or you work for the DMV or the government officials, I don’t know. But I do think checklists are important, especially when you’re talking about your finances.

(Kristen) Yeah, so let’s talk about the financial checklist. So, how can it really help us, like, stay on budget this year?

(Justin) Because if you take your checklist and – I like to call it a value-check list – don’t make it, you know, constraining. Make sure you’re working towards your values. Look at it every three months as a family dynamic. And really change your words to “Oh, I have to” or “I’m giving up” and saying “I’m empowering my values” and “I’m allowing my money to give me the opportunity to be with the people I love and care about.”

(Kristen) That’s an amazing way to look at it. I like that kind of checklist. I think I can stick with that.

(Justin) Me, too.

(Kristen) All right. Thank you, Justin. And we’ll see you guys next time at 7:57. Until then, remember financial wellness starts here.
